The stamp offered here was prepared by the Polish Home Army in September of 1944 but it was never issued or postally used. The stamp depicts two resistance members throwing grenades and the lower inscription commemorates the start of the Warsaw Uprising. The upper inscriptions identify the stamp as a field post issue of the Home Army. These were not officially issued in deference to another design which was issued in five different colours on September 3, 1944. Officially only 2250 examples of this stamp were prepared but there is some evidence that perhaps twice that number were printed. There are six different types of this stamp which were all produced without gum. This lot offers a very nice scarce expertized example of a Type 3 stamp.
