10c coiling dragons (7, including block of four) applied on registered cover from Tientsin (AP 24) to London, England (London Queensborough registered hood receiver); via Newchwang (partial transit, where Chinese form was removed by post office); Russia Field Post Office #13 in Incheon, Korea (a.k.a. Inkou, a.k.a. Chemolpu) (AP 14, by the Julian calendar; AP 28, by the Gregorian calendar), where seven Russia 10k, overprinted for use in the Russian Post offices in China, were applied; via Warsaw, Poland (MY 3, by the Julian calendar; MY 17, by the Gregorian calendar).
Cover faults, including open on 3.5 sides (partly detached at top), foxing, etc., and right-hand stamps damaged due to opening (stamps are not discoloured, in spite of appearance in complete cover scan), but this cover is important in several respects: a military station was used as a transit point for apparently non-military mail (which we cannot remember seeing another example); the Russian stamps overprinted for use in China ended up being used in Korea; we've been unable to located a similarly heavy Russia-China mixed franking (10c + 10k for registration + 60c + 60k for a 6th weight-class letter), partly explaining the condition of the cover; mailed a year before the Russo-Japanese War (Japan had considerable influence Korea); with provisional Inkou registered label; and while used coiling dragon blocks off-cover are uncommon, on-cover they are apparently very scarce. Guaranteed genuine. Russia KOREA China registered cover coil dragon BLOCK >>>>>
